Given Benidorm’s large gay community, Levante, Poniente and Mal Pas attract a good number of gay sunbathers all year around, but are not “gay beaches” in the same sense as, for example Playa de la Bossa in Sitges. The “gayest” local beach is Raco del Conill.
Raco Conil, Benidorm
Small, secluded, sheltered beach, located about 6 km southwest of Benidor Raco Conill was officially designated as a nudist beach and is popular with gay visitors during the summer.
The easiest way to get to the beach is by car. From Benidorm, take the N332 South, exit onto the CV 767 towards La Vila Joiosa Nord/
There is a small car park. During the summer, there is also a small “chiringuito” selling drinks and snacks.

Poniente Beach is one of Benidorm’s most popular beaches, attracting tourists and locals. Stretching for over 3km, the mostly sandy beach runs southwest from Benidorm’s Old Town.
In recent years, local government has invested heavily to improve Poniente Beach and its tree-lined promenade. The gayest section is near the Old Town, within easy walk from ReFuel Cafe.
One of the best beaches on the Costa Blanca. The blue flag Levante Beach has become an iconic symbol of Benidorm with 2 km of glorious fine sand and clear blue sea.
The area near the Old Town is usually less crowded and attracts more gay sunbathers near the Don Cesar Café.
Sitting between Poniente and Levante beaches, close to the historic Old Town, is Mal Pas Beach. Often ignored by tourists, is a great place for a spot of sunbathing, particularly in the winter.
Although quite a small beach, Mal Pas a popular choice with gay visitors.
If you want to find a quieter, more secluded beaches, then two nearby coves are well worth visiting. Ti Ximo and Almadraba coves are located at the far end of the Levante Beach, across a rather steep hill behind the Benikaktus Hotel.
Almadraba is popular for spot of nudist sunbathing (although not officially nudist). Sun loungers are available on both beaches during summer. Both beaches are great for swimming and snorkeling.
There are no bars or restaurants on either beach, so bring water and wear sensible shoes. Parking is very limited near the beaches, so it is best to leave your car in the residential area above the coves.
