Come to the gay side: Earring workshop

Come to the gay side: Earring workshop

Location

Twin Made 53-59 Despenser Street, Cardiff, United Kingdom

Discover the queer history of earrings.

Earrings have historically played an important role throughout LGBTIQ+ culture and we want to share this gender bending history with you! Whether you wear an earring on the left ear, on the right ear or don’t wear earrings at all, this workshop is for LGBTIQ+ individuals and for all or no genders who would like to learn the craft of self-curating your own earrings with the gayest aesthetic ever.

Come join us in a queer earring making extravaganza featuring the most colorful, camp-est and rad-est accessories to date. G(end)er Swap is collaborating with Candy Goblins - a LGBT+ friendly, queer run earring business. Candy Goblins is based in Cardiff, Wales and aims to bring fun, quirky jewelry for everyone! You can find them on Instagram, Etsy and Depop. Kiera, director of Candy Goblins will be teaching us the technical side of making earrings and will work with Santi, director of G(end)er Swap, to bring you a presentation on the queer history of earrings. We will end this event with a mini history quiz!

This workshop takes place on Sunday March 22nd from 3 pm to 5 pm in Cardiff, Wales at Twin Made- a collaborative creative art space that hosts workshops and parties.

Tickets are £10 and only 10 spots are available! With each ticket, you get to make/take home two pairs of earrings. There will be a clothing pop-up for you to choose a few items of clothing (by donation) to go with your earrings. The winner of our history quiz will take home a prize and all attendees will receive a one time discount when they buy anything from the Candy Goblins Etsy page!

*This venue is not wheelchair accessible as there are steps leading down to the venue (basement). We are currently working on finding an ongoing accessible venue to carry out our future events.

*This is a cozy and quiet work space with other artists working in the surrounding area. Room dividers and a private space will be allocated to us.

*This event is reserved for LGBTIQ+ individuals looking to access knowledge & community.
