Gay Group Trip: China Adventure Tour
About this Trip
Explore the beauty of gay China on this group trip with fellow like-minded travellers. On this trip you will travel through the picturesque mountains of southwest China’s stunning Yunnan Province, raft along the mountain river, and hike to a holy waterfall along with other adventurers.
Group Trip Breakdown
Day 1: Arrival
Your trip begins upon arrival in the well-preserved old city of Lijang, where you will head to your hotel to settle in. This afternoon you’ll be briefed on your upcoming activities for the next 12 days. Tonight you can enjoy a welcome dinner as a group.
Day 2: Qiaotou Town
This morning you will check out of your hotel before driving to Qiaotou, otherwise known as Tiger Leaping Gorge Town. After observing the area’s main landmarks, you’ll enjoy a noon lunch in a Naxi Family Guesthouse. After lunch you’ll attempt your first challenge, the 28 Zigzag Bends trail. Our final destination for the day is the Tea Horse Guesthouse.
Day 3: Shangri-La
Expect an early start today as you’ll be hiking down to Tina’s Guesthouse, passing a stunning waterfall along the way. At Tina’s you will experience the breathtaking view of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Continuing on to Shangri-La, you’ll enter the Tibetan cultural area. Time permitting, your group will walk around Dukezong, an ancient Chinese town.
Day 4: Shangri-La
Today will be spent sightseeing and cycling around the Old Town of Shangri-La. Enjoy a group breakfast before continuing via bike to Songzanlin Monastery. Lunch will be had at a local restaurant, after which it’s back on your bike to Napa Lake and Nature Reserve. Tonight, return to the hotel for a delicious dinner.
Day 5: Mountain Views
Most of today will be spent travelling, as you begin your drive to Deqin County. Take in the spectacular views as you journey through Tibetan villages. Take a stop at the Nixi Pottery Village, where you can try your hand at crafting with a local pottery lesson. After you’ve recharged with a tasty lunch, you’ll continue to the Moon Bend. Spend the remainder of the day relaxing and adjusting to the elevation.
Day 6: Yubeng Village
Wake up early and enjoy a stunning sunrise over the Golden Mountain’s snowy peak. After disembarking your vehicle, you’ll hike up to Yubeng, where you can enjoy a picnic lunch. Tonight you dine in a traditional Tibetan living room, in Upper Yubeng Village.
Day 7: Mt Kawagebo and Ice Lake
Another spectacular sunrise can be seen this morning, if you’re up in time. The day begins with a walk to Binghu Ice Lake on the Meili Snow Mountain. Next, travel to Ice Lake, situated at the foot of the glacier. Tonight you’ll stay overnight at a local guesthouse in Upper Yubeng.
Day 8: Holy Waterfall
Another breathtaking landmark is on the agenda today, as you’ll be visiting the famous Holy Waterfall; buddhists have been venturing here on pilgrimage for centuries. Once again we’ll spend the night in a local guesthouse in Yubeng.
Day 9: Cizhong and China Grand Canyon
Bid farewell to peaceful Yubeng, as today you’ll be continuing on horseback to the Ninong Village. Enjoy another group lunch before driving to Cizhong, where you’ll stay for the night. En route to Cizhong, you’ll witness the stunning Grand Canyon.
Day 10: Tacheng Town
Begin the morning with a visit to a local Tibetan Catholic Church, built by French missionaries in 1867. Next, you’ll drive to Tongle Village, filled with charming people and traditional houses. Later, you’ll explore the Tacheng Black Snub-Nosed Monkey National Park. Tonight’s lodgings are in Tacheng Town.
Day 11: River Rafting
Today’s adventure begins with the opportunity to feed a snub-nosed monkey, after which you’ll embark on a rafting adventure tour. After an exciting day of water rafting, you’ll set up camp on the beach island.
Day 12: Yangtze River
Awake to an awe-inspiring sunrise on the Jinsha River. Enjoy a tasty campsite breakfast with your group, before continuing on the raft up to Shigu Town. Experience the wonder of the first bend of the Yantze River. Transportation will take you back to Lijiang Old Town, where you’ll hang your hat for the night.
Day 13: Lashihai Lake
Absorb the culture of Lijiang Old Town before riding to Baisha Old Town. On the way to your next destination, you’ll stop at Baisha Murals, which were painted 1000 years ago. Once again you’ll be cycling on, this time to Lashihai Lake. If you’re lucky you’ll get a glimpse of the majestic black-necked crane.
