Celebrate the Christmas season in style with fellow LGBTQIA+ travellers on this gay river cruise along the Danube. Visit the famous German markets in Munich, explore castles along the river, and experience the Sounds of Vienna concert.
Group Trip Breakdown
Day 1: Munich
Upon arrival in Munich you’ll be met by a tour representative and taken to the Hotel Sofitel Munich Bayerpost. From here, you can explore the city and nearby Christmas Market in Marienplatz. This evening, join your fellow LGBT travellers for a festive welcome reception.
Day 2: Munich
Today you’ll be driven through the picturesque German countryside to nearby Neuschwanstein. Here you will visit one of three fairytale castles built by Ludwig II, known for inspiring Disney’s Magic Kingdom.
Day 3: Munich to Nuremberg
Explore beautiful Munich with a walking tour of the city, including sights such as the Konigsplatz and the Angel of Peace statue. After your guided tour you’ll be taken to Nuremberg to board the river ship, Amadeus Star. Enjoy a celebratory welcome dinner aboard the ship this evening.
Day 4: Nuremberg
Awake to beautiful Nuremberg, where you will visit the Bavarian town of Roth, as well as Nuremberg itself. Here you will find magical Christmas markets and have a chance to sample lebkuchen, authentic German gingerbread.
Day 5: Regensburg
Today will be spent exploring historic Regensburg, which will be festively adorned with Christmas decorations. Once again you’ll be offered a guided walking tour of the area. Explore the lively Christmas market, where there will be plenty of stalls offering handmade crafts.
Day 6: Passau
Enjoy breakfast aboard the ship as port in Passau, the City of Three Rivers; venture through this quaint town and observe the historic buildings. The old town is particularly beautiful, and is renowned for its baroque architecture. Stop by at St. Stephen’s Cathedral, home to an organ with 17974 pipes. This afternoon visit the Passau Christmas market before re-boarding the ship for dinner.
Day 7: Melk to Vienna
Today you will arrive in Melk, home to the famous Melk Abbey and Durnstein. Enjoy a glass of fragrant mulled wine before returning to the ship this afternoon. From Melk you will cruise on to Vienna, where we will port this evening just in time for the Sounds of Vienna concert.
Day 8: Vienna
Spend your last full day exploring spirited Vienna. The Austrian capital boasts many cultural sightseeing locations, including Shonbrunn Palace, which you can enjoy a tour of this afternoon. After touring the famous palace you’ll visit yet another Christmas market.
