Join fellow like-minded travellers on a Galapagos gay island adventure, where you’ll explore three unique volcanic islands. Witness the stunning wildlife of the region, including: Darwin’s finches, sea turtles, marine iguanas, sea lions, and more.
Our trip begins in Quito, Ecuador, where you will spend the day at your leisure. Should you arrive early, you will have the option to join a city tour of Quito.
Today begins with a flight from Quito to Baltra, followed by a ferry to Santa Cruz Island. Later we’ll travel to El Chato reserve in the highlands, home to several subspecies of the Galapagos turtle. This afternoon you’ll get a taste of Ecuador’s culture, with a visit to a local coffee plantation and a chocolatier. After sampling some local chocolate, you’ll visit the Charles Darwin Research Station to learn more about conservation efforts. Dinner tonight consists of food-hopping, by visiting different eateries across the island.
Today we head out to sea for a morning of kayaking around Divine Bay. Look out for white-tipped sharks and rays, who cruise under the clear, calm waters. After some water sports we’ll lunch as a group at a local restaurant, and enjoy some leisure time exploring Puerto Ayora independently.
Board a boat to Isabela, the largest island in the Galapagos. Here, we will check into our hotel and relax before lunch. This afternoon you will head to Tintoreras to snorkel, where you will see sharks, sea turtles, sea lions, and more. Enjoy dinner in town at a local restaurant.
Our adventure continues today, with a trip to the highlands of Isabela Island. From here, we hike to the rim of Sierra Negra, an active volcano. Upon arrival, you’ll have the chance to take in some breathtaking views, and explore the massive crater that lies below. Continuing our hike, we will head towards Volcano Chico, a secondary crater. After a busy morning we will dine at Hauser House with a three-course lunch. This afternoon we’ll return to Puerto Villamil to appreciate the area’s white sand beaches. Tonight we barbecue as a group.
Day 6 will be spent at your leisure, exploring Isabela or relaxing with your newfound friends. Alternatively, you can participate in one of the optional activities on offer, including kayaking or cycling. Tonight we reunite as a group for a fun local party, complete with music and drinks.
Wake up early and enjoy a hearty breakfast before our Galapagos adventure continues. Head out on a mountain bike and prepare to explore the picturesque coastline, after which we will visit the Wall of Tears. On our travels we will pass white sand beaches, mangrove forests and brackish lagoons. This region is filled with wildlife, including: oystercatchers, herons, flamingos, finches, shorebirds, sea lions, and marine iguanas. Next, we will transfer to the airport for a flight to San Cristobal Island. Here, you’ll be staying in a waterfront hotel. After lunch we will continue to the Galapagos Interpretation Centre. Later, you can hike to Tijeretas, where you’ll spot a variety of birds. Tonight, enjoy a snorkelling session before we dine together.
On San Cristobal we will kayak along the coastal bays and coves to the north coast, home to blue-footed boobies, sea lions, and sea turtles. Here we can snorkel with sea lions, as well as marine iguanas. If you’re lucky you may spot golden rays, starfish, clams, or even a hammerhead shark. Tonight we return to the hotel for dinner and local beer.
Sadly, day 9 marks the end of your Galapagos island adventure. Today we will return to Quito so you can prepare for your flight homeward bound. Bid farewell to your fellow gay travellers and the beautiful Galapagos.
