Upon arrival in Iceland you’ll be met by a local tour representative who will take you to your hotel, after which you’ll be driven through Iceland’s stunning landscapes. Before enjoying a picnic lunch, you’ll trek up some lava fields to the Burfell Volcano Crater. Here, you will bear witness to some breathtaking views, after which we will visit the lava tube. This afternoon you will visit the Blue Lagoon, famous for its thermally heated water and age-defying properties.
Today we will be visiting a geysir, where you can witness waters shooting 30m into the air. After experiencing some of Iceland’s most impressive geological activity, you’ll see rifts in the earth’s crust, formed by tectonics. Next, admire the Gullfoss waterfall, so powerful that you can hear it ringing through the air. Lastly, we will visit Thingvellir, the world’s oldest parliament. After a busy day of sightseeing, we will return to Reyjavik for the evening.
Today is set to be a challenging one, as you’ll proceed on a longer hike, where you will see hot springs, fumaroles, mud pots, and steaming rivers. Relax and recharge as you soak in a secluded hot spring.
Enjoy a hearty breakfast before driving 45 minutes to Heimaey, the main town of the Westman Islands. Here, you’ll have the option of several activities, including: a tour of the natural sites, a visit to the natural history museum, a visit to “Pompeii of the North”, a hike up Heimaklettur, or puffin patrol. After you’ve completed your chosen activity we will continue to Eyafjallaokull, the notorious volcano known for disrupting Europe’s air traffic. Next, we will head to a nearby glacier called Solheimajokull, where an expert guide will teach you how to approach a glacier safely. Once again we will be passing by an impressive waterfall, Skogarfoss. After a busy day we will return to the mainland to visit two more waterfalls. Finally we will retreat to a wilderness lodge to spend the following two nights.
Fuel up with a tasty breakfast before continuing your Icelandic adventure. Today will be spent hiking the area, which is littered with natural hot springs.
Explore the rest of the Highlands region, wandering through Iceland’s mystical forests and farm ruins. Look forward to visiting a towering set of twin falls, before visiting the naturescape of Gjain.
