Cycle along ancient Roman lanes, mountain pathways, and coastal drives on this gay Italy group trip. Nights will be spent relaxing at authentic gay-owned agriturismo, or farm-guesthouse hybrid, with local wine and good company.
Upon arrival at Bari airport or the Terlizzi train station, you will be transferred to Villa Cappelli, our home for the next few days. Settle in and unpack your belongings before joining the group for a light lunch.
Today you’ll have the chance to explore neighbouring towns, with a bike ride through the countryside to Ruvo di Puglia. This area is famous for its Grecian urns, which are on display at the Metropolitan Museum in New York City. After exploring Ruvo di Puglia, we will move on to Molfetta, where you can have a dip in the Adriatic. After cooling off in the serene sea, we will enjoy a group lunch at a seafront seafood restaurant.
Prepare for a long bike ride today, as we will be visiting the “undiscovered” town of Gravina. Here, you’ll observe a large ravine with spectacular views. After touring the city, we’ll return to the villa, pausing for a picnic halfway. Tonight we dine at the villa.
This morning the van will take you to Castel de Monte, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, featured on the back of the euro penny. After touring the historic castle, we will ride by bike to the villa, stopping along the way to take in the sights. Lunch will be hosted at the villa, whilst dinner will be an independent affair in Terlizzi.
Today will be bike-free, giving you a chance to rest those limbs and explore the seaside town of Polignano a Mare and Bari. By minibus we will travel to the capital of Puglia, where we can enjoy a group lunch and more sightseeing. Tonight you can look forward to a villa-hosted pizza party, cooked in the villa’s wood-fired oven.
Once again we will travel by van this morning, to the nearby town of Matera. Here, we will walk the ancient streets, which have previously been used as film sets. After touring Matera in the morning, we will have lunch at a nearby agriturismo, before cycling back to the villa via the countryside.
On the last day of our bike trip, we will head to the stunning seaport of Trani. Here you can enjoy a tour of the impressive cathedral. After a relaxing lunch in Trani we will return to the villa for a farewell dinner.
Today marks the end of our gay Italy cycling tour, so say goodbye to your newfound friends before being transferred to Bari Airport.
