Join fellow LGBT+ travelers on this Mexico gay group trip. Over 12 days you will experience the cultural richness of Mexico, including its ancient Mayan and Aztec past. Sample tasty Mexican cuisine and authentic tequila as you explore this stunning destination.
Group Trip Breakdown
Day 1: Mexico City
Upon arrival at the airport you will be transferred directly to your hotel, where you’ll meet your fellow LGBT+ travelers. Here, you can enjoy a welcome drink overlooking the Cathedral and National Palace. After settling in, we will head to Azul Historico for dinner.
Day 2: Pyramids of Teotihuacan
Experience the ruins of a formerly great civilisation at the city of Teotihuacan. For lunch we will dine traditionally in a private home, after which we will go to the Shrine of Guadalupe. Tonight we will dine as a group at a rustic local restaurant.
Day 3: Modern Mexican Architecture
Today’s destination is the Coyoacan neighbourhood in Mexico City. Here we will visit the Casa Azul, previously home to Frida Kahlo. Next, we will travel to San Angel for the Saturday Art Market; stalls here will be selling handmade jewellery, crafts, and textiles. Enjoy lunch and drinks as a group before we take a boat to the Floating Gardens of Xochimilco. The evening will be spent at your leisure.
Day 4: Mexico City to Puebla
An early start is on the agenda today, as we’ll be travelling to the Palace of Fine Arts for a performance of Ballet Folklorico. Next we will head to Puebla for lunch in the historic old town. From here, we will check in to the hotel before enjoying a guided tour of Puebla. After a busy day you will sample some authentic cuisine as we enjoy a tasting tour of the local market.
Day 5: Puebla to Cholula
Visit the largest pyramid in the world, the Great Pyramid of Cholula, which was built over a period of 600 years. Sightseeing locations today include: the Amparo Museum, the Church of Santo Domingo, and the Rosary Chapel. Tonight we will experience live music, dinner, and a dance at La Casa de Mendrugo.
Day 6: Puebla to Cuernavaca
Today we will head to Cuernavaca, known as the City of Eternal Spring. Here you will check in to the hotel and have lunch, after which we will be visiting the Palace of Cortes and the Cuernavaca Cathedral. Lastly, we will stop at the Robert Brady Museum which offers a unique collection of art. Enjoy dinner as a group at the Casa Hidalgo.
Day 7: Cuernavaca to Taxco
From Cuernavaca we will continue on to Taxco, the Silver City. Home to an ancient city, Xochicalco, you’ll see ruins of the Zapotec, Aztec, and Olmec people. After lunch we will head to our hotel, the Pueblo Lindo. Take a brisk walk around the Taxco hillside, where you can experience the diverse culinary culture of the area.
Day 8: William Spratling Museum and Dancing
Visit Taxco’s impressive cathedral before we enjoy a traditional lunch at a local eatery. Next, we will view the unique silver artworks of American silversmith, William Spratling. Prepare for a night of dancing, as we’ll be listening to live music at the Zocalo. Dinner tonight as a group.
Day 9: Cacahuamilpa
Look forward to exploring the largest cave system in Mexico, after which we will dine in the town of Ixtapan de la Sal. Tonight we return to Mexico City for an evening of wine and local cuisine in the Zona Rosa district.
Day 10: Tamayo Museum of Contemporary Art
This morning we will travel from Chapultepec Park to the Anthropological Museum, home to a vast collection of pre-Colombian relics. After lunch we will continue to Chapultepec Castle, the only castle in North America to house real sovereigns. Next, we will venture to Tamayo Museum of Contemporary Art. After a busy day of sightseeing we will wine and dine as a group.
Day 11: Diego Rivera Mural Museum
Experience yet more Spanish baroque architecture this morning, at the Counte del Valle Palace. Next we will visit the Diego Rivera Museum, have lunch and continue to the Museum of Popular Art. Sample some more delicious Mexican dishes as we visit the Mercado San Juan food market. To celebrate the end of our trip we will enjoy a farewell dinner and drinks this evening.
