Scuba dive in the tropical waters of the Caribbean with fellow like-minded travellers on this gay group trip to Saba. Here, you will explore spectacular underwater landscapes and venture into the idyllic gay-friendly islands of the Caribbean.
Your adventure begins as you land in the world’s smallest international airport. For the next seven nights you’ll be staying in a friendly hotel, overlooking the breathtaking Caribbean sea. Participate in a brief orientation and get to know your fellow LGBTQIA+ travellers. Explore the small town of Windwardside this afternoon, before joining your group for a welcome reception and Saban barbecue dinner.
Enjoy a delicious continental breakfast, before beginning your scuba diving activities for the day. Certified divers will head out to Coregut, a dive-site just a 20-minute boat ride away. This spectacular wall dive features giant brain coral, elkhorn coral, and colourful parrotfish. Look out for whales and dolphins, which are sometimes spotted here. Certified divers will return to Windwardside around 14:00, whilst beginners continue with their training until around 17:00. Tonight we dine as a group.
Your diving adventure continues today, with those who are certified diving at Third Encounter Plateau. Here, there are two species of shark which are common around Saba, but fear not, they tend to keep to themselves. Enjoy lunch together at Diamond Rock, a great snorkelling location, and a favourite location with Saba’s octopus population. Scuba beginners will finish their second day of pool practice today, after which they’ll have a chance to explore the island. Tonight, relax poolside before taking dinner.
Today certified divers can enjoy the fish-filled Outer Limits, with those becoming certified joining them here for the last 2 dives of the day. Later, you’ll visit Hot Springs, where hot water is diffused through cracks on the ocean floor, formed by volcanic activity. Your dive-master will guide you through the ocean’s most vibrant sea life, including a shy seahorse.
This morning you’ll witness one of the water’s most wondrous sights, the Eye of the Needle. This underwater skyscraper is littered with coral and sponges. The second dive will take place at Ladder Labyrinth, where crabs and shrimp commonly loiter. This evening there will be an optional night dive for the more experienced amongst you.
Prepare to come face-to-face with a nurse shark, who’s lounging on the sandy ocean bed. The Shark Shoal is one of Saba’s most legendary dives, offering black coral, giant tube sponges, and a black-tip shark. This afternoon you’ll dive at either Twilight Zone or Torrens Point.
The official diving days may have come to an end, but you’re still free to venture into the deep on your own accord. Alternatively, hike 2864 ft to the top of Mt. Scenery. Pause halfway to take in stunning views of the surrounding villages and the ocean.
Sadly, today marks the end of your scuba diving adventure. Bid farewell to your fellow gay travellers as you prepare to travel home.
