“I'm not sure why I was mistreated like that, the owner knew I wasn't a local. You can tell from my English because someone in our group was from United States and was half Filipino spoke very little English. I guess the owner heard us talking because my friend had asked to see if they'll let us take a peek if it was busy. Of course they didn't think it was a good idea and assured us it was busy.

The owner looked Japanese and might have assumed I was Chinese as my skin colour was very light for a Filipino since I've been in Canada all my life. The bartenders are friendly, but unfortunately it was way too crowded and we did find our spots but soon after overtaken by over rowdy clientele which the owner knew. Then my drink spilled right on my shirt a drink that cost me $10 Canadian Dollars as I drink premium drinks. The owner had walked by me pushing and shoving his way through. Rather than apologizing he just continued to converse with his buddies instead of maybe have a chat with our group since he was eyeing us from downstairs when we walked in and maybe apologize for the error. Then maybe I could have reviewed the bar a bit easier.“

    Beware if you are foreigner

“Not recommended! I was there alone yesterday (2018 jun 4), a waiter and one guy sleeping in the corner, and an older drunk Asian guy was there (and later a bartender also). Outside some locals were sitting. I know it's Monday, so I just planned to drink a cocktail (pina colada), which costs 160p. The only waiter made me the cocktail, I paid 200p and waited for change. Because he didn't put my money into the cash machine I thought he opened me a tab and I said I just want to drink this and go, won't be ordering more. He said it is 200p because there was no coconut milk, and he used coconut malibu drink. No receipt, no change... Highly not recommended for tourists! It's not about 40p, it's about how handle foreigners. “

    Canadian guy

“Locals and foreign, poor and rich people, class and no class, beer is cold and cheap, not to crowded, you can dance, I am not into drag but if you like its there. DJ small guy was great. Treat you well I had fun. Been to all other clubs also.“

“Thats the best place to be on Friday or Saturday night. You can drink, dance, chat, meet and flirt with pinoys. Pure gay. The show is more or less ok but lets just say that Philipinos dont really have it. Many foreigners as well. Lots of fun“

    Hard to believe

“I have been to Che’lu many times and have had drinks with the owner a few times too. I don't know him personally (beside having a few drinks and chats) but he seemed like a very nice chap to me. Not saying that I don't believe you but my experience is surely different.“

    good for having fun

“The guy at the entrance was very friendly explaining how this bar works. It was Saturday night so I had to pay an entrance fee of 350 pesos including 3 coupons for a variety of local beer and a very funny show at 2.00h. Very good and friendly service. I enjoyed the night with all these friendly guests dancing to the world wide spanish hit from Puerto Rico.“

    Rude Owner & Rude Staff

“Having written a review directly after my experience at this bar I had many mistakes in my review and it was hard to follow. This is a summary of my review once again. The owner of this club likes to hang outside or inside with patrons, it's good he pays attention to his locals. The problem with this attentivness has drawbacks for him and the perception he gives to would be patrons. Not being a local to Manila and from Canada & US, I felt this owner gave me the impression that I'm undersirable to be in his bar. One thing he has to learn about running a bar is not to prejudge your patron regardless of his nationality or country of origin. My friend was curious to know if the bar was busy and didn't want to risk 200 pesos to enter so he had asked me to maybe ask the owner at the door if we can have a peek, he can accompany us. He flatly refused and told us to pay 200 pesos just so we can go in and according to him it was really busy. So we paid our entrance this comes with 3 coupons for local drinks. I don't order local beer so I don't have a use for this and being a visitor to Manila I am ready to spend money to enjoy the night. While we stood in our spot and my friends having fun with drinks, Ihad mine in hand. The owner goes upstairs instead of going around as the place was very busy and people are bumping into each other, the owner decided to walk in front of me and my friend. Having someone spill my drink on my shirt is very annoying and very disrespectful but coming to a bar and the owner does this to you? The owner had to go out of his way to bump into me just to hug a local patron for some stupid reason needed to bump into me to do it, no excuse me or sorry. I'm sure Chelu wont miss my patronage but I will also keep note of the fact that this bar is very unfriendly to Canadian and or US citizens, of course unless you're of caucasian or (white).“

“Just yesterday we have been there (Thursday), we came around 1:30 am and there was many people inside. Entrance 100 php, but for this you get 1 beer.
Around 1;45 started travestie show and it was really nice and funny.
Good place for night drink ;)“

    Wonderful venue

“Went last night and of course (being a Tuesday) it was empty but it had a really good feel to it and I am sure on weekends it is a hot place to be. The music was good and the drinks very reasonable. The staff were also very friendly and efficient.“
