Elysium Hotel

4-Star Hotel in off Agiou Ioannou Street, Mykonos, Greece  map

Why this hotel?: Famous gay hotel. Fabulous pool & bar scene.

A famous gay hotel in Mykonos, Elysium offers spectacular views of Mykonos Town and the Aegean Sea, located a 15-minute walk downhill to the gay nightlife around the Old Port.

The hotel features a lovely pool with sun terrace. It is home to the Elysium Sunset Bar, a gay-popular destination which hosts nightly drag shows during peak season and has great cocktails to sip as the sun goes down. Modern guest rooms have air conditioning, satellite TV, mini-fridge, free WiFi. Deluxe rooms have a kitchenette.

Guests have free use of the hydro-massage room, sauna & steam room. As with most other gay resorts, expect to pay a premium. But staying in a totally gay environment with hot men around the pool is definitely worth the extra cost.

“My partner and I have been to Mykonos every May/June for our annual weekly (start of Summer) holiday for the last five years. We love the island at this time of year. It is lively at the start of the season but not over crowded which it can be mid season.
We have stayed at the Elysium for the last four years (2012-2015) and have already booked for 2016. We were apprehensive on our first visit (we don't exactly have Greek God physiques!) but our anxieties were soon put at ease. This is a relaxed hotel at the beginning of the season and we love it! A visit to the Elysium is now an annual must for us!
Good points: the calm atmosphere created around the pool with gentle music played throughout the day, the fantastic selection at the buffet breakfast, the friendly waiting staff who make you feel special, the outstanding daily room service (crisp clean sheets every day), the evening sunset cabaret with outstandingly talented acts (this attracts gay and straight tourists from all over the town), the views from the pool area over Mykonos chora (town) and the Aegean, the sunset views over the sea, Vasilis the owner who keeps a relaxed (but watchful) eye on the enjoyment of his guests thus ensuring a superb holiday experience year on year, a scrumptious menu during the day, gloriously generous cocktails (discounted for residents), gym/jacuzzi/hot tub/pool facilities are amazing, discount prices for returning customers, check in staff (indeed all staff) are amazing and much to our surprise recognised us (and greeted us with a hug) on our second visit! This hotel is amazing!
Bad points: the hill on the way home is very steep.... But let's face it, if you want a view you need to be high up and elevated! A taxi home in the early hours of the morning is €5... This aspect is a mixed blessing!
Overall, there are no other places on Earth my partner and I have visited as much... And we will continue to visit annually as we have made so many friends from around the world at this brilliant, relaxed, hotel...
The Elysium is a very special place. Ignore any bad press from over zealous bloggers and reviewers. I have stayed in more than 5* resorts and complexes... And for a Greek Island this is a fantastic gay hotel... The staff are great, the atmosphere (start of season) is relaxed (not been peak)...
    We love the Elysium.“
