Amazing

To all out-of-town visitors: whenever I travel to Hong Kong I will come to this place. The staff was amazing, very helpful, and courteous. It's safe and clean, will visit here again and again.

Staycation

Gay staycation in HK In all my years of living in Hong Kong, I have never visited a gay sauna. That is usually the kind of thing I save for holiday or business travel. But since travel is pretty much impossible lately, my summer holiday became a staycation. And I decided to try something new. I’ll admit I was sceptical that a gay sauna in HK would be any good. But I must say I was impressed from the moment I walked in to Gateway Sauna. The facilities seemed pretty modern and very clean. The built in Jacuzzi was in the perfect temperature. The steam bath was exactly what I needed to detox from the night before. I even tried the tanning station! I came on a Sunday, late afternoon, and the crowd was surprisingly good looking. They told me Saturday afternoons are also usually a good crowd. Lots of guys — mostly local but some expats also. I decided to splurge on a “relaxation cabin.” Honestly, I did not do very much relaxing. There were plenty of guys to play with. I recommend checking this place out if you’re ever in Wanchai. It’s a sexy way to relax and let off some steam.

in the center of the hong kong island universe

Hong Kong is only big enough for one big thing a time, one big gay bar, one big gay playgrouund, one big gay event to be... but what I like about HK is the many smaller but quality fun play available that are not so guys dominated or China MB place to hunt. I don't mind a few quality one showing up at time for sure. LOL So, since I am not a Kowloon fan, my #1 choice is Gateway in WanChai. It's at the center of everything so I can go after work, take a cheap cap to drop me by for quickie or just chill and relax and have a home-baked breaded to warm up myself and get into action. The sauna is well-maintained, classy and trendy, I love the jacuzzi (only one in HK and a nice one with massage that works) and I can sit there and enjoy guys at the shower checking me checking them out. Nice steam room for steam activities and clean and decent back room for indecent activities. LOL.. friendly services, sexy and intelligently spoken customers I often meet. Occasional hot Western or English-speaking guys you love to watch and play with, and love the open toilet corner which overlooks all entrance to shower, steam, playroom and locker - best view! I feel sexy myself just standing there making a pee or not. LOL. I give it all 5 stars if only they had a narrow open view window I could be playful and naked with someone. I would star perfect for Gateway, but that would only be in my fantasy LOL.

Foreigners - friendly

Very clean (including lockers, dark rooms, towels) , not big but well equppied. I love to dip in the jacuzzi before some action, and lying in sofa afterwards. They have dry and wet saunas, which may be the most cruisy area. Average age of clientele is wide around 20s-50s with almost all sorts of bodies (mostly slim ift/ fit which are my type). Most are HK locals, but the receptionist is very friendly with communicative level of English. Foreigners are welcome and popular (without admission fee discrimination). Go there on weekdays around 8pm usually, with about 15+ customers.

Good but....

Not easy to find. Was quite busy but very expensive. Darkroom far too dark. They don't like foreigner people much. Reception rude no customer service.

Perfect sauna

I'm a 42yo from Australia, slim with some toning. This is my first visit to any HK sauna and as soon as I arrived, around 3pm on a Friday, I was playing with a local hottie who I guess was around my age, and a moment later another hottie joined us - in the Jacuzzi. Without details, I stayed for three hours of continuous fun. Action aside, this place: looks and smells clean; is well decorated and maintained; has a really nice Jacuzzi and showers, comfortable private rooms and chill-out area, and well balanced lighting. This is perfect to my liking and I'll definitely be coming back again.

Not recommended

Because of the reviews, I decided to give a try. And it was very disappointing, as the place is "super small" and a lot of old local guys, nice decoration however not a "foreigner friendly" place at all. Unless you like older local guys or just for rest.

Bad experience

Went there on Saturday night around 8:00. Few old local guys. The rooms is smell and no one clean. I found they don't like Foreigner, I look like stranger there! And they let customers just smoke next to my shower place. Finally they close more early than their website time. Definitely not back.

A nice sauna

I visited in the mid-afternoon (around 4pm) on a Saturday. This is a well-equipped, clean and modern sauna. The wet area has four open showers facing a nice, deep jacuzzi (with a cold plunge pool attached). The sauna is tiny - barely good for two people, but hot! The steam room, though, is like a small maze and very cruisy. A great place to spend time, stepping out for a shower and jacuzzi to cool down. The rooms are OK. Still a bit cruisy, but there seems to be some work being done on what might have been a large room. The patrons were very friendly. Cruisy in the steam room and in the (previously large) room. I am a middle-aged white guy, but found the locals to be very friendly and welcoming. There were mostly Asians in the sauna at the time I went, around a dozen or so, with maybe one or two other westerners, but everyone was friendly and enjoying the place. I would return here again ... a nice sauna with nice people.

Nice facility, friendly staff, mostly older crowd... but fun!

Stopped by yesterday around 3pm. The crowd there when I arrived wasn't really my type... A bit older... But everyone was really relaxed and courteous and respectful. The guy at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. A bit pricey at 150HKD but there were a lot of snacks and drinks included, free towel change, and the facilities were clean. Condoms and lube stocked in all the rooms and great toilet facility for bottoms. Eventually a couple younger guys showed up and I had a blast. :) A couple blasts actually. Hahha. There isn't really a maze, and a couple of the rooms were closed, but overall a nice place. I liked the hot tubs and steam room. Sauna is really small. I'm a 27 year old white guy... Semi-muscular but a little bit chubby. I wasn't sure how I would be received after reading some reviews, but like I said, everyone was really nice even if I wasn't the type of most of the guys there, and vice versa. Compared to Jungle.... I liked the maze better at Jungle and the younger crowd.... But I felt that Gateway was a more relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, and I slightly preferred their facilities. The place is pretty easy to find. Look for the sign in the pic I posted. Thank you for a nice afternoon, Gateway! :)

Warm and Cozy

Though not big in size, this sauna is one of the best establishments I have ever visited in HK. Luxurious design coupled with great facilities and cozy environment have impressed every client with beautiful experiences. The staff are helpful. I have had lots of fun there mingling with guys from different walks of life. I would definitely render it another visit upon my return to HK in the near future. I have put my money to good use, so to speak.

My preference

Strongly recommend this sauna after Chaps and Central Escalator. Compared with other two ones I had been, it is perfect here except the high price, so hope the owner can have the good price for those frequent guests. The entrance fee is 150 hkd. Perfect toilets with great facility for bottoms, clean, total two. Nice room with good design, mirror, pillow, video, condom, gel and paper, all inside and a lot, take it conveniently, so clean. Dry sauna room, so small, and steam room/Jacuzzi, larger, feel good. So many foods and drinking provided for free, one machine with cola/fanta/spirit, the other one with coffee/milk tea/chocolate tea, water, banana, biscuit, candy. All types guests, Asian, Westerners, most are hot and good looking, still some ugly, but noted that only peak time, few guests and nobody after 7pm. Large rest room with changing room, TV, sofa, computer, even a massage machine. Everything is great except the high price for the entrance.

Not as advertised.

Westerner showing up at 11 pm on a Saturday told it USC closed. Web site says they are open until 1 am. Either no one goes or they discriminate against Caucasians like many other saunas in HK.

Moderate size but nice

It's a good size for HK but nothing like in Europe. Clean and has nice relaxing facilities with great massage chair, soft drinks, hot drinks, even cake! The shower is for 3 people, hot dry sauna for 2 people, dark wet sauna, nice spa next to showers, 2 toilets, a good size cruising dark area and some private rooms. I went 8pm on Monday and it was $130 and there were about 10 people. Everyone seemed pretty nice but not my type. A mix of locals and 3 travelers. There are two entrances on the same street, they will both take you to the same stairway. Look for the lit Gateway sign on the door.

cozy

Better equipped than some other saunas I been to in HK. There is even a separate cold bath pool right next to the hot jacuzzi. very clean and cozy. The crowd is basically 28-40 butch looking kinda guys. No fem at all(a good thing).

Got rejected?

I arrived there last Saturday at around 10pm and the staff opened the door saying that the place is closed already. Is it true or was I got rejected? That's bad if it is the latter case.

Mainly for locals

I went there on Sunday, the 8th. I stayed there for 3 hrs, from 4pm to 6 pm. It was mainly locals but none of one I found interested to. I was looking for muscular guys. There were also couple Caucasians arrived later.

Great Experience

Went there on a Sat. night. Not a lot of people but as a traveler, they have just what we needed, two massage chair. The place, although, is rather small. But very clean, and the staff will clean the room not long after the "action". Great place to hang out, even better if met the right guy!

Review

Frankly the best facility I have ever been to. My husband and I needed a place for us, other than his mothers home so we visited Gateway. The weather was hot and hanging out at moms is the other option. The other visitors were Asian men for Asian men. We had already visited other saunas that fill Westerners needs so hanging out at Gateway went as I expecte and I had a relaxing afternoon. Most important, don't overlook my first line. Best sauna I have ever been to.

Small, Clean and Fun

I wanted somewhere to get out of the heat and relax and fool around. The website was a great help to find the place as a tourist. As a white guy, wasn't sure what to expect but the front staff was fine and the guys where like anywhere. The place is much smaller than places I have been in other countries but clean. In the early evening of a weekday there were a dozen guys. They have everything you need for a fun time.

Clean and decent crowd.

Gateway took my HK sauna virginity, 1st I ever went, and have gone back several times since. It's close by. $150 entrance, you can tell the place had been renovated few years back, very clean. Snacks bar well supplied. Big TV porn showing in a room with king size bed. Dry sauna super small, fits 1.5 person, lol. Steam room is where people go, a dark maze as you go in. I mean dark! After work locals the days I went. Only saw a white guy once, and a South Pacific islander look's guy. White guy was in a dash - come and go (I only saw). I like this place if you want to stay HK side.

Racism against white

Very clean sauna. But, I must point out some very big issues if you are a white guy trying to get there. First of all, I showed my Hong Kong ID. Even if I am French, I am a Hong Kong resident. The guy wanted me to pay the full price whereas I am under 28. He finally accepted my 50 dollars. Then, I had a bad surprise when I entered the jacuzzi: the guy who was there immediately go out. A few minutes after this, I went to the steam room and that was the same thing. I do not accept these kind of anti-white racism. I won't go there anymore (by the way, I never had this problem in the other sauna Action, whereas there is a big majority of Asian guys there).

White Racism does not exist

Are you serious? Like Rob, I'm Asian too. What you went through is nothing compared to what we suffer in Europe, UK, middle East. There are Growlr profiles that say no Asians. Racism against the white is like big foot. Does not exist. So stop whining!

Stop complaining

As an Asian person, I experienced more extreme treatment from white people at bath houses in US, Australia, & western countries. Some white people politely avoid Asian as you described, some rudely push me away, and got yelled at with name calling. What you experience is mild and stop complaining!
