  1. This place is closed.

“Went there and the guard told me that this place is closed permanently. Sad. Shanghai got super boring when it came to gay entertainment“

  2. Great sleazy place

“I visited this sauna few years ago and was pleasantly surprised. Yes the place is not sparkling clean buy the guys actively chased me. I am white guy in my early 60’s but this fact did not put them off. I think it is an ideal place for mature guys who are into young Chinese guys.“

  3. Roach infested, hard to find, but had some fun.

“It is hard to spot the entrance, on the right hand side, unmarked door across the left side straight sauna that is marked.

Pay the lady at the straight side and bring receipt to guy on gay side reception. He will take your shoes & give you towel, shorts & locker key, grab pair of flip flops. Go downstairs and find your locker.

An old Chinese queen will come feel you up and try to explain that you are entering a gay bath house I guessed. I just nodded yes yes yes and he eventually left me alone, changed into the shorts and he pointed me to the nasty showers. I showered then he pointed me to the cruising areas. I went at 3am, only few older heavy set Chinese and then one 21 year old grabbed me and pulled me into a room for some fun. Then I noticed cockroaches all over the walls I quickly got up and ran out. Won’t return, too sketchy. “

“Hi I'm a white young foreigner and I'm hesitating whether to go or not? Any recent comment to share? Thanks“

  5. Avoid

“Was not to hard to find. Before getting into the place when I was about to put my clothes in the lockers, an old guy kept annoying me asking to play with him, he was so rude and the guys who run the place basically didn't tell him f**k off.

Went back, took my shoes and money (80) and left the place. Not recommended“

  6. Hard to find but it is there

“Direction here is correct but still difficult to find the sauna entrance.

At the reception, please pay the sauna admission (60 CNY) to a lady there and receive a receipt slip.
Take off your shoes and give them to her.

You will get a locker key and shorts-shirt set in exchange with the receipt slip – then let’s go inside.

When I went there, I did not see any apparent foreigners – almost all the guys there were ordinary local Chinese.
So if you like no-frills local Chinese men, this place is worth to visit.“

  7. Got lost

“I couldnt find it either. No one could understand me speaking English so I just didnt bother. The directions here were not really helpful and confused me more. Decided to just pass and walk away...“

  8. Couldn't find it

“I thought I followed the directions but still couldn't find it. I saw the exact same entrance as pictured to the alley from the street. I came at 2am. Went down the alley just before the entrance to the hotel and made a right. There was a dirty bathroom on the left and a parking area on the right for bikes. Went further down behind a curtain and it was a dead end. Went back to the street, went through the alley again this time past the restaurant and there was an unlocked door on the right just slightly past the stairs on the right and it was pitch dark and I heard someone snoring. Could this have been it? I couldn't see and it looked very sketchy so I gave him.“

  9. You don't have to be posh to be cozy

“They have a shower area with little open cubicles. Opposite are steam cubicles which you can enter with two people or more and lock. Inside is a steam diffuser and two stone seats (you can place a towel on top to sit on them). The steam cubicles have light and also a tab to get fresh water. Further down is the hot stone sauna which is dark (I didn't go inside) and on the opposite are the toilets which are the genuine squat toilets available all across asia and the middle east. Then they have a private room section on the second and third floor. I did not really understand what this was about. These rooms are fully equipped with TV and beds. Everyone can go inside at no extra charge and just hang around there. There were rooms with several people inside but they just sat there watching TV, some rooms were open and people slept in them and other rooms were closed. These rooms seem very clean and deliver a very warm atmosphere. Overall I liked this place, it's ideal to get some action going. It is not clean and not posh. But very cozy and friendly.“

  10. Not recommended

“Very bad impression, not clean, not hygienic, too expensive for nothing, a primitive sauna, and forgot if you want a occidental guy, only Chinese guys. But the most important, not clean, smell and horrible place, I don't recommended for nothing this place.“

  11. Unbearable!

“Tooooooo dirty! but if you still want to try it, please do not forget to bring your own big towel.“

  12. Absolutely reliable action

“If you are looking for action, this is the place. Best in Shanghai, I've tried them all. Not the cleanest place, but reasonable, and cleaner than DingLing. If you are a foreigner into Chinese guys, this place is unbeatable. I'm in my mid 50's, and have been propositioned by local guys in their 20's to my age. You'll likely be the only foreigner there, so you'll get a lot of attention.

I've traveled Asia extensively, been to Babylon several times. The difference here is that guys come for action. There is no posing, no attitude, no one cares if you're older or have a less than perfect body, although a lot of the local guys are pretty stunning.

Note on the entrance. It's very confusing. Here's the deal. Enter the alley way from the main street and walk toward the hotel entrance. As you face the hotel at the end of the alley, the gay sauna will be on your right (on the north side of the alley), the straight sauna on your left, directly across from it. If you're not sure, wait a little bit, and go in the door that all the cute young guys are entering.

By the way, the steam cubicles do work, you just have to twist the faucet to turn on the steam. Just stand in there a while, someone is sure to touch you inappropriately ;)

I've been here on weekends, weeknights...never left unsatisfied. I've left Babylon unsatisfied many times. If a money boy bothers you, just tell him "xian zai mei you qian" (I have no money right now).“

  13. Avoid this place at ALL COST

“Guys, if you've been to saunas or gay spas or bathing houses in BKK, SG, KL, HK, TWN, JPN etc, you'll want to avoid this place.

Not only is it run down, smelly, uninviting, untidy, it is also very smoky and poorly managed.

There is no steam room. There are 3-4 cubicles the size of toilets, with a round stone stool inside, with a translucent glass door labeled "steam room" - but there is no steam coming out. It's just a very humid, dirty room.

No sauna too. It did not work when I visited (25 Mar 2014). Yes, there are private rooms, but these private rooms looked more like dimly lit, sleazy hotel rooms, rather than action cubicles which we are so used to in other cities. They have 2 beds in each room, left and right, and a TV (normal old style TV, not LCD, mind you) and the sheets have seen better days. Beside the stink coming from the bedding, there is also second hand smoke from the guys in there.

Guys range from old to very old. No young guys here and I left after 10-15 minutes walking about all over the place to get a good grasp of how bad it is. If you wish to see how bad it is, well, you can try the experience.

I arrived at about 10pm, and they charged RMB60 for a 3-hour stay. You take a pair of pyjamas after paying the entrance fee and you're expected to wear it throughout. Not the way we are used to - wearing a towel throughout our cruising, as in other gay saunas. For overnight, there is a different charge, obviously higher.

Anyway, I had to have a good shower once I went back to the hotel because my body felt itchy after wearing the pyjamas they supplied. Again, avoid this place. Dirty, stinky, untidy. Even if you meet a cute guy in there, you will not be in the mood.“

  14. Nice to have a real local fun

“This place is awsome! A lot of fun! Local guys. Lot of action. In the steam room it is wild. Upstairs it is more private.“

  15. “Most are Asians; some are married men. $40 for about 3 hrs and $60 for spending a night. The facilities are old and it is quite a old fasion style. If you like Asians or married men, it could be a nice place to go, but a room could be easily filled, not easy to get one.“
