“One of the most friendliest sauna at the Leith Walk civilised only. Believed to safeguard men only for us joined them. Sadly to gone away...?“
“I went to no 18 as often as I could. (I live 80 miles away.) In my opinion, the biggest problem was the clique that gave bad reviews, most of which were lies... I never had any complaints about No 18. Any bad reviews can have a serious affect on the ftrure of any establishment, and could have been deliberate for that reason.“
“Fair enough, James, and I agree to some extent, but it wasn't helped by some of the facilities not working for long periods of time, and the impression that the owner had simply given up and couldn't really care any more.“
“Is it still open or has it closed? JIm“
“Not been for a while was wondering if it is still closed.“
“Well, what can I say that's not already been said? I used to go to No 18 all the time in the past. It hasn't half gone downhill.
£14 to get in the place, showers that don't work and have fittings missing, towels that have seen better days, mold up the walls in the toilets and across most of the lower floor skirting boards. The place is in dire need of being painted.
I was there 17/10/16 and there must have been 3 people in the place in all the time I was there.
About time the owners admitted defeat and shut up shop.“
“It is now fourteen (£14) entry free, they do have some concessions. The sauna is in dire need of paint and a complete refurbishment. It is a dump. However, it is almost a written guarantee that you will find action. Steamworks looks better and is definitely cleaner, though the men can be aloof. The choice in the Edinburgh sauna scene is between a rock and a hard place.“
“Not been for year just wondering how much entry is can anyone let me know?“
“I needed attention quick - it served the purpose. didn't notice the décor or flooring or colour of the cushions. I got seen to quickly with no hassle and the other customers seemed polite - forming a queue behind me. Staff friendly - one even gave me a hand in a private room then sent his mate along to finish the job.“
“Went to both saunas on my visit. This was slightly less grim than the other one. At least the showers worked. Shower area looked tired and neglected and sad. Steam room again tired and the door closer was broken. Same problem in the sauna. FFS guys it's not rocket science to fix a door. Jacuzzi obviously a cheap domestic affair. Floors in the wet area covered with uncomfortable rubber mats. when you hit an uncovered area you realise why. Non slip tiles are available and it should be sorted urgently. There seems to be a common thread in both saunas that repairs and upkeep are optional. Staff mildly disinterested. No alcohol licence.“
“Been going for sometime now, and I have to say it is great staff are very helpful and friendly, people who go there no problems.
I really enjoy it, it is where you can be who you really are and no questions ...
great work guys.
Keep it up,,, (Excuse The Pun)“
“Got all my personal belongings stolen from my locker; staff did their best to help. The place is very run down and in desperate need of a make-over, most of it smells bad and the staff don't seem to do much, how it's still operating as a business is puzzling, most of the clientele are the same old faces who are there all the time. Wont be back.“
“I have gone to No. 18 for years. It is without doubt the best gay sauna that I have ever been in, and I have been in a lot, in Scotland and England.
To the people who claim it is not clean, I suggest that any problems are caused by the customers.
There are plenty of bins to put anything in, but some people prefer the floor.......... "Shruggs" James.“
“I went to no 18 spa I enjoyed my whole visit the staff wheare wonderful“
“In need of an upgrade . Cold, not so clean & poor facilities.
Spend some money on this place !!“
