“Extremely friendly and meticulously clean sauna. Although it is smallish, it makes for great intimacy. The staff and masseurs are lovely and always keen to make sure the customers have a great time. I never miss a chance to visit when I am in London, even at weekends.“

  4. Cozy little place.

“Cozy little place. The staff is very friendly, this place attracts more elderly people. The entry fee is 19 £, with free coffee and tea. 3 masseurs on duty every day. It opens at 11:30 in the morning to 10:30 in the night. during the afternoon is the busiest time.“

  5. Think massage bar and it's the best in london

“I read a lot of reviews before coming here and I now see what the problem is, people are looking at this place all wrong. Think gay spa and you're much closer to the mark.

If your idea of a sauna is a big place with multiple floors, mazes, Jacuzzis etc, this is not for you.

Portsea is a brilliant, relaxed specialist massage venue which also has a steam room and a sauna.

With 3 qualified and hot masseuses on duty at any time and multiple private massage rooms clients can book a massage, relax in one of the sauna rooms or enjoy complementary tea coffee or water in the lounger before your treatment.

it's obviously a gay venue so you can get some fun in the steam room too but it's primarily a gay spa. The massage therapists can do deep tissue, relaxation or erotic. Personally I went for the massage so had relaxation but my massage therapist said I had lots of knots so ended up with deep tissue.

As a massage a male massage therapist is much better than you get at any other spa or hotel and they're young and hot to boot!

I'm a convert and will be back!“

  7. An oasis in a very busy populated area.

“Since I came to the Portsea Sauna I have found such good service from very friendly men. The masseurs have excellent and will their best to make you feel at home. They are from many places and it has been delightful to meet them. I have also meet some lovely people in the sauna. Of course it depends when you go but the massage is very reasonable so I find ican be sure if the welcome I will receive. It is just right for me. There are refreshments too some complementary. The service was good and it was clean.“

  8. Great location, full stop.

“Sadly, I went there last year, after many years away. It had not improved and the steam room was just a damp room, hardly ever steaming 5 minutes, every 15 minutes. Useless to complain or request a better system to replace the present one. Staff are always great & polite, despite the management.“

  9. Afternoon Nov 2016

“I really enjoyed my visit to Portsea, the staff were very friendly, nice relaxing atmosphere, action if you wanted but no pressure if you didn't.
    I will definitely be back.“

  10. Surprisingly nice place

“After reading some reviews on here decided to pay a visit to Portsea . It is rather like a nice cozy spa, great massage therapists, good value for money, attracts mainly professional city gents, so I guess it's not suitable for every bodies demand !!! Compare to some other places that I have visited its relatively clean and quiet environment. Friendly and polite management and staff too, please don't write negetive reviews as this place needs more positive support, also they provide free hot drinks and loyalty card available too, location wise it's just perfect few minutes walk from Marble Arch station.

Hope this review will be helpful.“

  11. Don't go!!

“This is the smallest sauna in the world. It's incredible places like this sauna still exists in these days in a town like London. I went in the morning, it was a clean place. I wanted to leave five minutes after entering. There is nothing there. Just two aisles forming a 'L', with only a small dry sauna (for 4 people), the steam sauna is better but like a narrow room. For me it was a waste of time and money. I can't believe I went to this place in London.“

    • Portsea

“This is a very negative and untrue review, this place is not Charriotts. It’s small, compact and staff and masseurs tops“

  12. saunabar Portsea

“This place attracts mainly adult men.
Its qualities represent only PAST time, and if only yesterday. Cleanliness etc are subject to the reliability of the staff and can deteriorate overnight. Rectifying dirt and poor service, take more time. I have met there, however, some of the best masseurs - professional, friendly, sweet. I myself am seventy yo and need a personal attention, which I sometimes get and sometimes not.“

  13. Afternoon vist Nov 2015

“I paid this sauna a visit on an afternoon in November. I have been in quite a few gay saunas all over Europe and this is one of the ones that I wouldn't ever visit again.
It was very clean and the staff pleasant but, it is way too small, only 3 private cabins. The steam room must be powered by an electric kettle although the dry sauna was good.
The clientele was the oldest I've ever seen at a sauna.
On the up side, I did meet a lovely local Black guy and we had a nice time.
I don't know how it is at the weekends but with only 3 private rooms and no glory-holes or a darkroom, I'll give it a miss. There are better, raunchier saunas in London.
One other thing put me off. All the floors are covered in hard, latticed, sharp rubber matting and it is so painful to walk on. So, if you decide to visit, take a pair of flip-flops.“
