Come Together Cup 2026: A Festival of Football & Diversity

On Thursday, June 4, 2026, Cologne’s Stadionvorwiesen will transform into a celebration of sport and inclusion as the 32nd Come Together Cup kicks off. Also known as “The Football Festival of Diversity,” this iconic event brings together LGBTQ+ teams, allies, and recreational players for a day of competition, live music, and community activism.

Come Together Cup was initially founded in 1995 by gay former detective Andreas Stiene, who once believed he was the world’s only gay footballer. The tournament has grown from 10 men’s teams to Europe’s most popular recreational football event, drawing 20,000+ visitors annually.

More Than a Tournament

The Come Together Cup aims to defy discrimination in sports. Its core mission is to celebrate diversity through football. Mixed-gender and inclusive teams compete in a spirit of respect, with fun prioritized over rivalry. Unique highlights include:

-The "Fun Cup" Awards: Fun prizes (ignoring athletic skill!) for teams that showcase creativity and team spirit.

-Boulevard of Diversity: A lively fair with NGO stalls, activism hubs, and community resources.

-Moment of Silence: A tribute to those lost to HIV/AIDS and other struggles.

-Live Music & Awards Ceremony: Local bands and a ceremony for the festival's winners.

Why It Matters

Beyond the goals, trophies, and competition, the Cup promotes visibility for LGBTQ+ athletes in a sport still grappling with homophobia. The Come Together Heart Award honors everyday heroes promoting social inclusion.
