Dates and details for York Pride 2026 are still TBC.
York Pride is North Yorkshireās biggest LGBTQ+ celebration!Ā Set in the charming medieval city of York, this free, family-friendly Pride packs a full day of festivities: a march through the old city walls followed by a carnival-like festival on the Knavesmire (Yorkās racecourse green).
Parade and Exciting Events
The York Pride Parade steps off at around 11:30 AM in York City Centre. The parade typically gathers near York Minster or a central spot (2026 route update pending, but expect iconic backdrops like the ancient City Walls and the Lord Mayorās Mansion House).
In 2012, Yorkās first Pride parade passed the Mansion House with the rainbow flag proudly flying above, a tradition that continues. 2026ās parade promises floats, marching groups, drag queens, bikers, and allies of all ages marching in solidarity. Everyone is welcome to join or cheer along the route. Yorkās compact city centre means crowds line narrow medieval streets, turning landmarks like Stonegate and Coney Street into a sea of rainbow flags.
After the parade, festivities shift to The Knavesmire (a wide open park by York Racecourse). Entry is free. Hereās whatās in store:
Main Stage: Live acts from 1 PM onwards. 2025ās lineup was stellar, headlined by the sensational Angels of the North (an acclaimed drag collective), with support from cabaret diva La Voix, West End star Kerry Ellis, pop duo The Cheeky Girls, X-Factor alum Marcus Collins, plus local talent. Expect 2026 to have entertainers as talented and diverse as last year's!
Cabaret & Dance Tents: A separate Cabaret Tent offers comedy, burlesque, and drag shows in an intimate setting. The Dance Tent thumps with DJs spinning house and pride anthems. It's going to be a daytime club for those eager to let loose.
Family Area: York Pride shines as a family-friendly Pride. The festival features a Family Funfair Zone with circus workshops, face painting, games, and a quieter space for kids to enjoy. Expect everything from bouncy castles to storytelling sessions.
Pride Village: Dozens of food stalls, bars, and community group stands form a bustling village. Savor local street food (Yorkshire pud wraps, anyone?), grab a pint of ale, and browse stalls from LGBTQ+ charities, sports teams, and sponsors handing out swag.
