    Open or closed

Is this placed open or closed I have tried 20-40 times to contact by email and by phone with no response. If this place is open someone needs to take a class on customer service it’s the worst I have experienced.

    Disappointed

Every time I go it’s always closed meant to be open 24 hours from Saturday and it is not true. This is my 4 weekend that I have been and it was closed there was even people even standing outside waiting to get in and when they made a phone call to venue they where told it was closed this is on a Saturday. When they should have been open not happy with is service anymore used to go to the base every weekend but now think I will go somewhere else was a good place to chill after a busy Saturday night but not now should a shame used to be good.

    Horrible

Went in last week on a wk day, steam not working as always, upstairs in the corridors and cubicles was freezing cold.if you are found relaxing in the lounge with your feet on sofa you get told off and told to wonder around instead of relaxing in the lounge. The place was empty only two ppl in and I was there for 5 hrs.

    Disappointing

Visited on a Friday night around 9pm and stayed until around 10.30pm. The place was dead. The steam room was not working and was only told after we paid. The corridors were really cold. Students beware - despite having a Totum/NUS card, we were told that student discount/entry only applies if you show your actual University ID card. Give it a miss!

    Enjoyable visit

I work in Leeds on a regular basis and love to spend some 'down' time in Base Leeds. It has improved over recent years with a nice hot tub, new dry sauna and the general up keep seems better. Can be hit and miss in terms of numbers but that's the case in any sauna I suppose. Worth a visit if in Leeds that's for sure!

    Disgusting reception service

The guy at the reception was the rudest to me on the phone, Completely ignored my relative asking a question and had an attitude when talking to me, don't bother going because I wanted to slap the guy. So unprofessional.

Terrible service never aanswer the phone

Honestly I planned on going soon but they don't even answer the phone when you need to call them before your visit despite calling 4 times, I spoke to the management team and they were incredibly rude and vulgar, I'm disgusted and going to steam complex instead.

    Entry Denied

I wanted to visit on 15th Sept and was told that because of my age the receptionist needed a doctor's certificate! This was stated as being 'policy' to ensure that I wouldn't pass out in the heat! Yes, I am over 70 but am told that I look younger. Perhaps I didn't fit the receptionist's image? Do people habitually pass out at the Base? I have visited many saunas, world wide, including the Base, and have never been asked for a doctor's certificate of fitness to enter. If this is the 'Policy the why is it not stated on this website?

    BROKEN ARM

It's much to be said time and time again - either you're luck is in or it isn't. Going to such places is all down to potluck. I have been saunaing for years now but I hate it when u are chasing the man of your dreams down the seedy corridors trying to get his attention but he has his eye on somebody else; before u know where you somebody else gets in first, beats you to it, then its the final countdown - they both go into that cubicle and the door gets slammed shut in your face.

    First sauna

I’d never been to a sauna before but as I’m a student and Wednesday is free a friend and I both went and it was better than expected. I thought it would be totally overwhelming action everywhere but it was a small chilled place. Upstairs the cruising area plenty of rooms. Downstairs you have the sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, showers and locker room and if you don’t wanna someone I never had an issue when saying no. Just walked around plenty fit guys usually show up about 4pm

    No Response/Poor Website

I have never visited a gay/bi sauna before so was looking for some info. The Base Leeds website is not very helpful at all. It has no basic info of how the place works so I filled in a Contact Us form (twice)and have not had a response. They could take a lesson from Plastic Ivy which has an excellent website giving me all the info I want although, it's a bit further away I will be taking my first "plunge" there.

    Tired facilities.

Receptionist with an attitude, smelly, dirty, no sign of any cleaning ongoing or attempted, tiny jacuzzi, tired facilities. This might be the only place in Leeds but I won't be going ever again.

    Small but good sauna

This is a rather small sauna in one of the railway arches in Leeds city centre about a 2 minute walk from the train station and main shopping area. Has a nice modern feel and when I visited on a Wednesday it had a good mixture of guys of all ages in. They have a small jacuzzi and a medium size sauna & steam room. Nice place to relax and meet other guys.

    Good Refurbishment

Popped in after hearing that they had done the place up and was pleasantly surprised. All the facilities (sauna, steam room and jacuzzi) where working and all clean. It is a little expensive but that is to be expected from a city centre sauna. Good mixture of guys in on a Wednesday afternoon on my visit. Overall I would recommend this sauna.

    Grubby and cold

It was cold in the jacuzzi (the one that was actually working that is) and the locker rooms could have done with a clean. If you have a car, there are better places to go.

    A great experience for me!

I work in Leeds from time to time and have been here around 6 times. It can be hit and miss who is in but last time I was in there was his hot guy from Leeds......... it was a Monday afternoon. There is no pattern to what you will find but for £9 it is great fun!
