The hip cabaret bar Maggie Choo’s in the basement of Novotel Bangkok Fenix Silom hosts the very popular Sunday Gay Night where qipao-adorned waitresses are replaced by hunky, shirtless men.
Organised by G-Spot Entertainment, the Sunday Gay Night features the highly entertaining shows by drag diva Pangina Heals and her crew, along with fun games, free shots, drink deals and prizes. Check their Facebook page for upcoming events.
Maggie Choo’s operates normally on regular nights as a stylish nightclub, featuring various live bands, performers and singers. Large gay crowd, with many foreigners, especially on Sundays.

“One of the BEST Drag shows in Asia with great music and lots of hot guys :)“
“Arrived around 9:30p - wasn’t too crowded but all tables had already been reserved. At 10:30 the drag queens started performing regularly every half hour or so. Around 10:30 the place started getting a little crowded too. It was packed by 11 and the shows ended around 12:30am. Towards the end the drag queens played a couple of audience participation games (song guessing and a dance off). After the shows the place emptied out.
Didn’t really see the Asian theme of this place; it’s just a classy bar. The music was good: your typical Western club music. The drinks are pricey but strong. The drag queens were really good dancers, and Pangina was really funny. But this meant less dancing among the patrons (since most people just watching the show).
The crowd was definitely different than what you’d encounter in Silom: Thais there were more upscale, mostly late 20s / early 30s, no moneyboys, etc. My guess is most spoke English (all the drag queens spoke in English). There were a good number of foreigners. Dress code is supposedly no tank top / no shorts / no sandals, but I definitely saw guys there wearing those. The description here is also a bit misleading. There were no hunky shirtless waiters. There were only a few (2-3) shirtless guys, but they just sat there. Overall a pretty good time, and something different than the usual Silom scene.“
