Popular open-air bar & restaurant with a dance floor, located at Silver Sand Hotel on Ao Phai beach. This place is regarded as the unofficial gay bar of Koh Samet.
Silver Sand gets busy around midnight and attracts a mixed crowd, with more gay customers from Bangkok on weekends and public holidays.

“We went for happy hour. A bucket of cocktail is 300B. They say all cocktails but it’s not when you get there. Anyway my bucket of Long Island iced tea was good (my partner’s pina colada wasn’t) But ... the but is the staff, so unfriendly, and uninviting. They act like they are over worked while every business owners tell us that tourism is less than 50% capacity due to covid19... we were prob 3 or 4 tables on beach out of 20.... and don’t expect table service .... the beach itself isn’t not that clean (watch for broken glass, use at least flip flop)“
“We stayed here in early December 18 and were struck by how good the rooms and prices were. Modern up-to-date facilities, a far cry from Tubtim. However, the gay heyday has passed, as the military close up the disco early, and so most gays stay away. The restaurant was poor but the free breakfast was great.“
“After reading the reviews here we decided to check it out. Mixed crowd of all nationality and lifestyle. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the bucket drinks. No table service so you have to go to the bar and selfserve. Unfortunatly the dancefloor closes at midnight but the outside area stays open. Will visit again.“
“I'm not party animal but we had been dancing there for three hours non-stop without any stimulators. There was a fantastic music, amazing mix people and crazy atmosphere - my best recommendations. After such thai dancing any european night club like a funeral. We were impressed a lot.“
“Last review was nearly 2 years ago, so thought it would be helpful to confirm that Silver Sands is still the best evening venue for gay gays. Silver Sands gets more popular from around 10pm onwards. Definitely a mixed crowd, but during our visit (CNY) there were plenty of gay guys there, mostly in groups.
Overall have to say that Samet is a lovely island, with excellent beaches, far less developed that other Thai resorts - also a lot smaller. Three hour drive from Bangkok (we used a regular taxi - cost 2200 baht each way), is easier and faster to reach that Samui or Phuket (once you take into account check-in times, waiting for the plane etc).“
“If you're looking to go out at night on Samed island, Silver Sand bar is STILL the place to be. I went back there last week. The place has been upgraded and expanded. There were quite a few gay guys and lesbian couples even on a Tuesday night. Upbeat music, chill-out atmosphere, hot fireman show, etc. They even serve yummy noodle/wonton late at night in case you're hungry. To get service was a bit challenging, though. A bit understaffed on a weeknight, perhaps.“
“Always a fun place to hang out and have a drink or two. Not exclusively gay but there are usually some sexy boys around. Definitely worth a visit (or two!).“
