Rude staff
Some of these staff members think they’re better than everyone else. Wow, imposter syndrome really got a hold of the people at this bar. The camaraderie that is supposed to be in a gay bar is completely void here. Whether you have one drink, or a million, you’ve had too many. The bartenders choose whom they want in the venue, and I have seen them kick out people on the basis of dislike. It completely goes against the whole gay bar vibe. Here you will pay more for drinks than at some other venues in the gay village, and you’ll be treated like crap on the bartenders shoes or pulled out of the toilet mid pee while being yelled at to leave or the cops will be called I saw it happen and never returned. There's a right and wrong way to do things, and sadly these people have it all wrong.
Relaxed environment.
The Eagle appears quite different from some earlier reviews. It's not a cruise bar. But you could find a wide range of types of guys there who may flirt and get friendly. Staff are hard working and service pretty fast. It's not a fashionable, on-trend bar but you can enjoy the ambience, the crowd alone or with friends. The crowd is pretty friendly, you can chat or just enjoy your own space. Security are helpful, though have to patrol to keep everyone safe and well behaved. Loads of other bars and clubs around it, if you want variety.
Not a bad place, but make your own mind up.
Visited this place 3 times now and on my 3rd time decided to get a membership card. This is not a bad place, but make your own mind up. I am getting on a bit pushing 60, but like to people watch(don't think anyone would be interested in moi). I will go back, prices are on par with other places. Found the toilets a little strange(say no more, I must lead a sheltered life)... give The Eagle a chance.

Not the most friendliest bar in Manchester.
Recently visited over Pride weekend (Saturday evening) and was amazed how rude and aggressive some of the security staff were. Perhaps this is an area that the management should monitor more closely. Chris
Turned away arbitrarily
My experience last year (2018) tallies with Chris's, but I was told things had improved. Three of us had all had a couple of pints of beer and arrived at the door to be told by the female doorperson "Himself and himself has got a load of drink on him" and refused admission. It took me a few seconds to comprehend this. I've never been accused of being drunk in public before and none of us was shouting or staggering, so I found this insulting. I have no idea what it was based on but it's hardly the way to welcome visitors.
Great place to meet like-minded men.
You won't find a bar in Manchester where you can get sex and alcohol. The council have a long-standing policy of not having sex and alcohol available at the same premises. Bars lose their licence if they don't police it. If you want to cruise, there are several saunas in Manchester where you can do that, but they don't serve alcohol.
EAGLE is a great bar, with good drinks and a good atmosphere. The drag shows are on Sundays and not my thing, so I don't go on Sundays. You can cruise for a partner, but you need to go elsewhere if you want sex.
There are two bars, the back-bar or "Dark Eagle" is smaller and more intimate, darker and shows porn on screens. The front bar is more open, dancey, lighter. Can be very quiet early in the evening, but the scene in Manchester only really gets going around 10pm and goes on till the early hours.
Broken Arm
Been there many times and it has always failed to satisfy me. Not a good place and everybody seemed unapproachable and unfriendly. The place has a bit of an attitude problem. And for any visitor coming along, this will only scare them away. Perhaps not a place for fun and frolics like the place might suggest.
