    Hoisted

I loved going to the Hoist .. one of my favorite clubs and I met some lovely men there from all over . However the security guard on the door those last few years, made his best to rule who came in and who didn't! I was refused entry by him once because he thought I was on drugs! I'd just gotten over a cold do I did look a little peaky! So obviously he didn't know the difference between recreational drugs and simple paracetamols!! I believe the closure of the Hoist was largely due to him, putting guys off with his attitude. So therefore losing business. So thanks mate.

The Hoist is now "at large"

I loved the Hoist, although there have been complaints about a shouty security buffoon on the door recently, I was sad to see them close -- but all of London is becoming gentrified and that's the price one pays... I'm happy to say that The Hoist is now "at large" and you can see what's up at their website: https://www.thehoist.co.uk/ which has always been The Hoist's website, so you know it's not bollocks. Due to BREXIT and the general pricey-ness of London, I've pretty much stopped going there as often as I used to, in favour of Amsterdam.

    Hairallover

Extremely firm doorman, refusing me entry on a Sunday as I was too old and they claimed too many accidents from older visitors. They run the place and set rules, so I do not argue, but it runs counter to London's liberal and accepting ethos. I may be older than most, and that seemed to justify his discrimination.

If you are looking for a good time, this is the place to go no holds barred. It's not about if the place is cleaned it's a sex bar what do you expect after a few hours of men playing its going to get a little dirty. If you were born in 1975 or before you will be ok, but the new kids need everything a certain way. London places open early so I advise to get their early. Between 2-6 it was hot on a Sunday.

    Sunday pleasure guaranteed.

Have been 6-8x on Sunday afternoons for SBN. Go about 3-3.30 to 6.30 and there will be 150-250 guys fxxx sxxx and cruising. Generally no attitude. Mostly 35+ but mixed ages and body types. Fair bit of bb but you choose what you want to do. Have seen some shows in the past there. Not many private booth arms which is good for exhibitionists and group action. Probably the hottest group scene in London esp on Sunday afternoon. You get a drink included in the entrance fee and you are pretty much guaranteed as much fun as you want. Go check it out!

    Not a fan

It used to be busy but has dropped of a lot. I think people are heading to the vault on Sunday's now as its free to under 25s and the door price is half what you have to pay at the hoist and you get the free drink too.

    Random door policy

Arrived at the Hoist and the doorman instantly started shouting that I had taken drugs and was not going to be allowed in. Ironically I am a physician who has never taken recreational drugs, but have treated many gay men who have overdosed in clubs. When I asked the doorman how he could tell, he got more irate and shouty. Interestingly the guy behind me could was stumbling and could barely string a sentence together, yet he was waved through.

    Kicked out for Dancing!

Kicked out of the Hoist for Dancing!! The doorman said I had had too much to drink. I stood perfectly still and said, very clearly, "I am not drunk." I didn't slur. I didn't wobble. He realised he was wrong but did not have the bottle to admit it and back down. Unbelievable. I haven't been back since.

Refused entry for "being on drugs"

Very similar experience to this other would-be customer. After extensive searching of my pockets, socks, etc and patting down all over, questions such as "what have you been taking" and "where were you last night", the bouncer measured my pulse with a finger sensor and, on the basis of I-don't-know what evidence, refused me entry. It couldn't be more clear that I have not been taking drugs. I don't do drugs, never have, not even alcohol. In my opinion, this is all a charade to maintain a "No drugs" appearance. Please avoid this horrible club. We go out to enjoy ourselves, after all, not to be subject to false accusations.

    Going downhill fast

I used to come here often 8 years ago and had some really good times. The last few times it had really gone down hill. Tonight I traveled here from the US and walked 20 minutes in the cold to get there and the doorman wouldn't let me in because he said I had been drinking. I never had a drop of alcohol all day and I never do drugs so obviously they are not a bright crew. Just shows it's time to move on from this tired old place.

    First timer

Large two floor venue, attentive service from staff, guys who will talk even if they're not your type, friendly mixed ages and types from hard bodied guys in mid 20s to softer fleshed ones easily in their 60s and everything in between. No attitude.

    Action if you want it.

First timer last week (Feb 2014). Be warned - if you don't wear boots you won't get in. Inside is very dark but with lots of facilities. Mixed selection of men - mostly older guys with just a couple of younger muscle marys. Plenty of action if you want it, or just want to see it.
