PAOSAR - Poets Action Of Solidarity And Resistance - for Blkmoodyboi 

PAOSAR returns for it's second fundraising event at The Chateau in Camberwell, SE London.  This evening we will gather to support and celebrate one of the most talented and hard working and committed member of the QTIBPOC (Queer trans, intersex, black, people of colour) and Latinx communities. We are raising funds for their post gender-affirming surgery. This will assist in their general living fees, cover wages, and any other additional needs.

Blkmoodyboi is a trans/non-binary,  afro-colombian illustrator,  community worker, and organiser whose artistic work celebrates black and brown trans people with a focus on body-positivity inspired by cartoon/anime styles. Their designs stem from comic book strips, to self-care messages, with cute and squishy characters, and a re-connection with the natural world.

Blkmoodyboi works with migrant womxn and survivors of domestic violence.  They have created and facilitated workshops on intersectionality, empowerment, and illustration. Drawing from a place of resistance they have and continue to work tirelessly for marginalised groups and creating safe spaces.

We have a fantastic line-up of 3 poets and a DJ set from the amazing Lil Cholita. Come by and support QTBIPOC spoken word talent, music and visual art and black and brown trans folk.

Allies are welcome. If you are coming as an ally bring your QTBIPOC friends, pay the ally fee's, do what you can that elevates the space and the people we are here for.

 

POETS:

Olivia Douglass

Olivia Douglass is a writer, artist, and producer from South East London. Her work aims to great an innovative terrain for writing to re-mould the traditional and colonial images surrounding the black queer experience. She recently published her debut collection of poetry titled 'Slow Tongue', which is an examination of language and the relationship between black women artists. In January she launched 'Slow Grounds' a literary arts company, the company's first show will be  'Palm as Portal' supported by 'Talawa Theatre Company'. A durational poetry reading about intimacy and communal nurturing.

 

Tasmia Salim

T is an emerging producer, poet, performer, and a founding member of Nijjormanush an independant campaigning group that aims to educate, empower and organise Bengalis, and Bangladeshis in the UK. They  have previously been a writer in residence at The Nottingham Primary, performing work on stages such as Latitude, Free Word Centre, The New Cross Inn, and Rich Mix Centre. A Writing Room alumnni, T's writing explores the precarity and intricacies of imagining and manifesting queer futures and possibilities from the wardrobe/margins. They are also a facilitator and training, working with young people to build their communities and recently training as an oral historian, on a project archiving the history of Bengali seamstresses in East London.

Sonja Shah

Sonja spends their time reading and writing, trying to break down the ways we've learnt to separate thoughts and feels. They use poetry for healing, understanding and communicating.
