Hamburg Pride 2025: dates, parade, events
26 July 2025 - 2 August 2025
Rathausmarkt 1, Hamburg, Germany

Hamburg transforms into a vibrant celebration of LGBTQ+ culture and rights during its annual Pride Week, scheduled from July 26th to August 3rd, 2025. This week-long festival brings together local organizations, community groups, and residents to showcase the rich diversity of queer life in Germany's second-largest city.
The highlight remains the traditional Christopher Street Day march on August 2nd, marking the 45th anniversary of this important demonstration for equality.
Opening Ceremony: July 26
The festivities begin with an elegant evening at Kampnagel theater, where Hamburg officially launches Pride Week under the theme "We're here to stay. Protect queer lives." This opening gala combines meaningful dialogue with entertainment, featuring performances by local queer artists including BOVIY, Gino, and the Bengelsstimmen choir. The event includes accessibility features with live German Sign Language interpretation.
A major highlight is the Pride Awards presentation, where community members recognize outstanding contributions to LGBTQ+ advocacy. The ceremony transitions into a celebratory party in the theater's foyer, marking the official start of Pride Week activities.
Community Hub: July 27-31
Throughout the week, the Pride House serves as a central gathering space, hosting educational workshops, literary readings, and panel discussions. Events take place across multiple venues including the Integration and Family Center and SCHORSCH on Rostocker Straße, with some special programming at the Museum of Arts & Crafts' FREIRAUM space. All activities are free and open to the public.
The Pride House also hosts Pink Channel radio, which broadcasts live coverage, interviews, and reports throughout the celebration period.
Family-Friendly Celebration: July 31
Hamburg's famous summer fair, the Hamburger Dom, becomes the backdrop for a colorful Rainbow Day Parade. This unique event combines the excitement of Germany's largest northern funfair with pride celebration. The procession, led by the energetic Sambahia samba group and featuring a miniature Ferris wheel, creates a festive atmosphere starting at 7 PM. Participants gather at the Feldstraße entrance before the parade winds through the Heiligengeistfeld fairgrounds. The evening concludes with music and socializing at Biergarten Dock 12.
Street Festival: August 1-3
The heart of Hamburg's shopping district transforms into an outdoor celebration space for three consecutive days. The festival stretches across Jungfernstieg, Ballindamm, Rathausmarkt, and Bergstraße, offering stunning views of the Alster lake while visitors enjoy food, drinks, and entertainment.
Community organizations set up information booths throughout the area, providing resources and connecting with festival-goers. The central Pride tent serves as headquarters for event information and ticket sales for weekend parties.
Main Demonstration: August 2
The cornerstone event draws hundreds of thousands of participants and spectators for Hamburg's 45th annual Christopher Street Day march. This year's route begins at Mundsburger Damm before proceeding through the historic Lange Reihe district, along Glockengießerwall, and concluding at the Mönckebergstraße and Bergstraße intersection.
The demonstration honors the legacy of the 1969 Stonewall uprising in New York City, when patrons of the Stonewall Inn on Christopher Street resisted police harassment, sparking the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement.
Grand Finale: August 2
Hamburg's legendary entertainment district, the Reeperbahn, hosts the spectacular Pink Pauli Festival as the official Pride closing celebration. This massive party spans 16 different venues around Spielbudenplatz, creating Germany's largest annual LGBTQ+ festival. A single ticket grants access to all participating bars and clubs, from intimate venues like Wunderbar and Schmidtchen to larger spaces like Tivoli and Mondoo.
The celebration features over 20 DJs, live performances on Spielbudenplatz, and extended hours with some venues remaining open until Sunday afternoon. Tickets begin at 20 euros.
After-Party: August 2-3
For those seeking to extend the celebration, the Vogelball offers an all-night dance experience in Wilhelmsburg at MS Artville. This unique event showcases predominantly queer international performers in an artistic setting filled with elaborate costumes, striking masks, and electronic music that continues until sunrise. The party atmosphere begins at 4 PM and creates an immersive experience that celebrates creative expression within the LGBTQ+ community.
