Roze Filmdagen 2026
Event Dates and Location
Roze Filmdagen, the Netherlands' longest-running, and most influential LGBTQ+ film festival, is coming back to Amsterdam in 2026 for its 29th edition from March 18 to 29, at Het Ketelhuis.
Festival Program
Over eleven days, more than 130 films from around 40 countries will be screened, including features, documentaries, and short films that showcase the diverse stories and experiences within the LGBTQ+ community. The program features genres ranging from romantic comedies and inspiring documentaries to experimental and provocative narratives, highlighting unique voices and underrepresented perspectives.
Special Activities and Exhibitions
Beyond screenings, the event will feature engaging talk shows, panel discussions, and exhibitions that promote dialogue and deepen understanding of LGBTQ+ issues. In 2025, the festival expanded its offerings with virtual reality films and an innovative art exhibition by Henri Verhoef, presenting a futuristic queer utopia through AI-generated portraits. The 2026 edition is expected to feature this on a greater scale.
Awards and Recognitions
Roze Filmdagen celebrates excellence through various awards, including the Jury Award for Best Feature, Documentary, and Short Film, as well as the Audience Award in each category. The festival also presents the Free To Be Me Award, sponsored by HIVOS, honoring outstanding contributions to LGBTQ+ representation, and hosts a film competition supporting local filmmakers in realizing their projects. Additionally, it serves as a nominating festival for the prestigious Iris Prize in Cardiff, UK.
Why Attend
Whether you're a film enthusiast, a member of the LGBTQ+ community, or simply curious about diverse narratives, Roze Filmdagen 2026 offers a vibrant celebration of love, identity, and social change.
