Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura (which roughly means "Strong Fortune") is the second largest of the Canary Islands, after Tenerife. It was declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 2009.
The island is best known for its beaches with golden sands that stretch for miles and home to many world-class water sports.

Gay Scene
Fuerteventura's gay scene is very small and only has a couple of gay venues. The resort town of Corralejo offers a laid-back atmosphere and very liberal attitude that has attracted gay visitors for many years. As a result, the island’s tourism authority tries to promote Fuerteventura as a holiday destination for gay travelers.
One of the main resorts, Corralejo, sits in the northern tip of Fuerteventura where there are beautiful beaches and the infamous Corralejo sand dunes, a popular cruising spot among gay sunbathers and exhibitionists.
Getting to Fuerteventura
There are daily flights from Spain, UK, Europe as well as from the other islands. The airport (El Matorral Airport) is close to Puerto Del Rosario, the capital of Fuerteventura, and from there it takes about 40 minutes by taxi to get to Corralejo town and costs between €45-60.
A bus service is available from the Puerto del Rosario to Corralejo every hour and costs €3.40. Several ferries run from Tenerife, Grand Canaria, Puerto del Rosario and Lanzarote.

Getting around Fuerteventura
It’s very cost-effective getting around the island by taxi or using the local buses. You’ll see taxi ranks and bus stops all around. You can purchase a BONO BtF discount card for €1 from the driver and top it up to get discounts on bus travel around the island. To get from Correlejo to the sand dune beaches south of town is very easy.
A hire car is the best option if you want to explore the remote parts of Fuerteventura, and numerous car rental companies are available.

Things to See & Do
Beaches - Caribbean-style beaches with white sand and turquoise waters (including Corralejo Sand Dunes).

Las Rotundas Shopping Centre - large mall in the capital Puerto Del Rosario.
Lobos Islands - gorgeous small island located 2 km north of Fuerteventura.
Lajita Zoo - home to 'Oasis Park' with botanical garden and several excellent fish restaurants.
Baku Water Park (Corralejo) - large water park with wave pools, sunbathing area, play zones, etc.
Submarine Safari (Corralejo) - take a journey to the sea bed in this fantastic sub.
Fishing Tours - big game fishing available all around Corralejo.
Jeep Safari - a great way to tour around the gorgeous island and beaches.
Lanzarote - popular neighbouring island where you can get to by a ferry (a 30-minute journey).
When to Visit
Fuerteventura enjoys great weather most of the year, with the best of the sun and blue skies from April to November. Most tourists visit the island during these months and over the winter as well because of the year-round mild temperatures.
The temperature in the summer can range between 22°C-35°C, and in the winter between 15°C-22°C.
