Comedy night in London.
Word of Muff is a comedy variety show, born in May 2017, where stand up, sketch, improv and character comedy – to name just a few – come together to showcase art made by women. Yes, we’re that deluded and think (some) comedy is an art form. It’s also our attempt to steal back the stage time from the straight, white, cis male. The scenario has improved in these (almost) three years, but not enough! Plus, we have a lot of fun running the show and finding opportunities for our peers to showcase their talents.
Speaking of peers – ours in the London comedy scene (and some international scenes we were happy to experience) are awesome and populate our line ups! Past guests include Sophie Duker, Kemah Bob, Bisha K Ali, Lacey Jeka, Lydia Hensler, Athena Kugblenu, Jodie Mitchell and Esther Manito and have appeared in Soho Theatre, 8 out of 10 Cats, The Guilty Feminist, BBC, Union Hall Brooklyn, UCB Theatre NYC, Dubai Opera House and even Marvel Studios writer’s rooms!
We are Mariana Feijó, an international comedian, writer and photographer and Maddy Hunter improv comedian and teacher. Together we produce queer, female and immigrant comedy nights all across London. We’ve performed internationally in Berlin, NYC and Amsterdam and our work has appeared in the Guardian, the BBC, Duckie at The Royal Vauxhall Tavern, Soho Theatre, Funny Women, the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York and more.
“Amazing improv and crunkdance troupe.” Shem Pennant – comedian
“Now my queer girl ass feels welcome on stage” Ludmila Bogatchek – improviser & illustrator

“You put on an awesome night and it was so great to be a part of it” Megan Ford – comedian
“What a fun evening & great crowd!” Rebecca Schuster – comedian
“Such a well curated night!” Cordelia Graham – comedian
