The law allows adults to change their legal gender based on self-detirmination without any requirements. Minors aged 16 and 17 must have parental consent and a professional psychological opinion.

The conversion therapy ban passed by Parliament last year was officially signed into law by the President over the weekend.

In 2023, Portugal's parliament passed a bill that includes a ban on conversion therapy, amongst other measures, but this needs to be passed by the President of the Republic before it becomes law. 
 
In 2019, after an open letter by 250 psychologists to the the regulatory Ordem dos Psicólogos, the body affirmed that conversion therapy is malpractice and has no basis in science and is not justifiable.

Article 13 explicitly prohibits discriminations on the basis of sexual orientations

Portugal is not one of the 22 countries that allows trans military service. 
 
Trans people aren't explicitly banned from joining the army, but due to discrimination and regulations that also apply to cis people, but more commonly affect trans people, they are unable to join.

Even though gender self-identification is possible in Portugal, non-binary identities are not yet legally recognized here.

Our adventure will begin in Alfama, Lisbon's most elegant district. We'll explore the Moorish and Jewish influences in the architecture and watch a Fado performance in the evening.

DAY 1: LISBON

Today we'll be cycling along the Blue Coast. We'll visit the José Maria Fonseca winery taste Moscatel - which this region is famous for. After lunch, we'll take a Zodiac along the Arrabida coast where we may well see dolphins.

DAY 2: BLUE COAST

Today we'll cycle in the Natural Park of Arrábida and take a ferry to Troia Peninsula. Riding along the Alentejo province we'll pass old school farms and tiny coffee shops in the middle of 0where. Our arrival will surely give the locals something to talk about.

DAY 3: SANTIAGO DE CACEM

Today we'll cycle through Roman ruins in Mirobriga the ancient town of Vila 0va - this town once hosted Hannibal (leader of the Carthaginians, 0t the Netflix show!).

DAY 4: FOLLOWING SIR FRANCIS DRAKE

After a brisk cycle through the fields, we'll explore the town of Vila 0va de Milfontes - including its scenic coastline.

DAY 5: VILA 0VA DE MILFONTES

Today we'll cycle along Rio Seixe to Zumbujeira do Mar. Keep an eye peeled for crumbling Moorish forts along the way. We'll have a leisurely evening at our guesthouse and raise a glass or two.

DAY 6: MOOR RIDING

Today we'll sail along the Algarve coast. Avoiding the horror of Magaluf we shall stop in the funky town of Lagos and eat in a top restaurant.

Today you’ll be transferred to the airport for your return flight.
