Set out on a gay group trip and discover the world’s adventure capital, New Zealand. Trek along glaciers, raft along the Nile River Cave System and discover the Milford Sound fjords. If you love the great outdoors and have a taste for adventure, then this trip is a great choice.
Our adventure begins in Nelson on the Southern tip of New Zealand. You’ll get the chance to meet your fellow travellers over a welcome meal.
Today our guide will show us around one of New Zealand’s best wine regions, Motueka Valley. We’ll set out on our first adventure: a cycle 20 miles downhill. When we arrive at Tasman Bay we’ll be rewarded with a glass of wine.
Today we’ll hike the shores of Abel Tasman National Park and kayak along temperate waters, passing Adele Island and Split-Apple Rock. We’ll be lodging in an inn at Torrent Bay.
Today we’ll set on another kayaking adventure and visit the Tonga Arches. We’ll learn about the Maori culture, head to Onetahuti Beach and hike to Awaroa Inlet. We’ll be lodging here tonight.
In the morning we’ll hike to Totaranui, passing green grottos on the way. We’ll explore the area and then get a boat back to our lodge.
Later, we’ll return to Nelson.
Today we’ll head to the Wild West Coast. We’ll walk the coast of Buller River and go blackwater rafting through the limestone wonderland: Nile River Cave System.
We’ll stay overnight in an inn overlooking the Tasman Sea.
From our base in Punakaiki we’ll head to Hokitika, where we’ll see artisans carving jade. This area is full of lush Nikau Palms; we’ll also see rivers of ice. There can be a lot of rainfall in this area.
Our lodgings for the night will be in the shadow of a glacier.
Today we’ll head to the glacial terminus. Our guide will show us the ice rivers and teach us about the Maori relationship with the glaciers. Should you wish, you can upgrade to a heli-hike – you’ll actually helicopter over the glaciers!
After breakfast, we’ll discover primordial swamps, waterfalls and forests on our way to Wanaka, the mountain village we’ll be staying in for the next three nights.
Today we’ll visit the Matukituki River valley, surrounded by peaks and glaciers. We’ll hike to the hanging glacier where you’ll see a waterfall melting out of the ice.
You can choose between a flight over the fjords or canyoning across Milford Sound. Decisions decisions!
Today we’ll head to Arrowtown, descending into Crown Range Saddle. Then, we’ll go for the big one: bungy jumping. It’ll last for 30 seconds but the adrenalin will last for much longer.
It’ll then be time to head to Queenstown.
Day at leisure. If you’re a fan of whitewater rafting you could brave the six rapids of Shotover River. In the evening we’ll have a farewell dinner.
