Copacabana is a very gay-popular neighbourhood in Rio. It’s home to the world-famous beach and many bars and hotels. Oh, and we didn’t even mention the Barry Manilow song.

La Cueva is Copacabana’s oldest gay bar, having been founded in 1964.

The bar and disco is a popular meeting place for Rio’s older gay community and their admirers, with Brazilian and electronic music being spun until late.

The interiors of La Cueva are what makes it truly unique: you’ll feel like you’re underwater!

Fridays and Saturdays are when this place really heats up.

Lapa is a trendy, bohemian neighbourhood with buzzing nightlife and a big art scene. It’s home to the famous Escadaria Selaron stairs where everyone takes selfies.

A popular gay bar in the lively samba district of Lapa, in the Northern Centro of Rio.

Music here is samba fuelled techno, their DJs uniquely blend the classic roots of Rio’s music scene with today’s modern twist.

The cover charge can be pricey, but this is one of the biggest and best gay venues in Brazil so its definitely worth it.

There’s 4 floors, 2 stages, 20 pool tables, 4 bars, what more could you want?!
