Farme Gay Beach, getting its name from Rua Farme de Amoedo, a high street through Ipanema filled with gay nightlife and culture, is located just below this road.

The locals nickname it 'Barbie Land', a term used to describe the beautifully buff and polished men that parade this beach. However be careful using this term in the city, some men may find it offensive!

The gay section of the beach is clearly flagged with countless rainbow banners and gorgeous Brazilians in tiny speedos. If that's not obvious enough, look for Posto (life guard towers) 8 and 9: the gay beach is between here.

TG Fun Fact! Posto 9 is actually where 'The Girl from Ipanema' bossa nova song was penned, so a great place to live your 'tall, tan, young and lovely' fantasy.

Praia de Bolsa is a beach frequented by many transgender women from across Rio, and their admirers.

This stretch of sand is popular with the trans community as they often perform in nearby venues in between bathing and parading in the hot Rio sunshine.

This area is directly in front of the Copacabana Palace Hotel, so is easy to locate.
