Steamworks Vancouver

As a member of this club it has seen its fair share of changes over the years from staff to improvements. Some good, some not so good. After the world suffered thru the covid pandemic, stores, bars, restaurants slowly began to adapt to the new environment. Bathhouses, without a doubt, had to undergo some hard to deal with changes by following protocols set forth by health authorities here in B.C. While I have been back at Steamworks on several occasions since the restrictions were lifted it certainly has not seem to have lifted from the changes to allowed items we use to bring into this club. Restraining devices etc for the more hard-core play. Now I understand the Zero-Tolerance ideals with the club as pertaining to alcohol or drugs, as staff certainly don't wish to deal with this type of emergency in their club, and that's cool. But, with all the other limitations that have been implemented here, including other changes, has brought on nothing but alot of negative reviews of this Men's Sauna. I also don't care for the bag searches to the fact that the staff(not all) go thru our bags with a fine toothed comb, all without a search warrant. Is this a legal issue, majority would certainly agree to that. Although the club has the right as it's posted at the door, and if refused they will ask you to leave. Also, it's come to attention that some staff have been very rude and demanding even outright making up new rules as they feel fit, to what extent I'm not knowing, but whatever hopefully some darn good reason. The facility itself though has gone down in popularity as it seems nobody knows how to fix anything. Pipes disconnected in the clean out stations loose water connections leaking overall cleanliness has been mediocre at best. The manager as of present does not appear to be the best candidate for the job description and apparently has been rude to customers. Well I do say the customers are great for the better part of attending the club as I live nearby so I'm use to what's to be a decent crowd or time. For those from out of town it's been suggested to try somewhere else. That's your decision do as you shall. It's your visit make it worth your dollar and pleasure should you visit one of the saunas here in Vancouver. I would hope you have a great time and not a negative one. Unfortunately most reviews on our city these days have been negative by many means, but how one looks at it, and takes it, I wish in positive insight. I realize that today, everyday there will be positive and negative sides to almost everything, and I would apologize for such negative aspects to many things about this city I live in, but I can't because no matter how and what I do to pitch in by cleaning up and or pointing things out that need tlc or doing the little things on my own volunteered time, it just doesn't make a bit of difference. I used to be a proud member of this club and always recommended it, not so much anymore. Until some changes that were made are either corrected back as to before which were good for the club as a whole I don't care to attend to this club much at all. Which has me with two options, other than stay home, there are two other saunas in which to go to, only that one is quite a commute by vehicle or transit from where I live so arrival and departure times are a sure part of my pleasure there considering I use transit as my mode of transport. But in the long haul its not a bad choice at all. The other club is closer to home and improvements there have been awesome over the closure period of the pandemic, other than the layout of the floor plan which would have been quite a bit of work and money to sink into this club, tough call with no revenue coming in during that time. Certainly though by far the best improvements to this establishment which is the longest running local club in Vancouver and even more busier nowadays. Though the staff shortage here has been it's worst nightmare I suppose for revenue they have stayed open but not as it were 24 hours anymore. My views on this club have drastically improved over time as not only I grown wiser the staff have grown into the way a bath should be and they have done an amazing job in keeping the customer relations where it should be and then some. As for Steamworks I just don't see my membership being anything but expired and when I do go it's a one shot purchase because I just can't find any reason to be a full time member when it's reputation in my eyes has depreciated to its considerable and possible demise. It's a shame to say this but I can't help but stay on an honest and truthful road, because misguided assessment and words are not something I'm willing to say or write in persuasive means for any reason. Of course the layman's term is obvious about that above said. But it is what it is and if you have a good time there, then great that's what it is about, if you don't sorry to hear that. I'm one for pleasure not disappointment but no expectations are still key to going, and it can be best to go with someone you know to make the worst possible tour the best possible tour. It's all what you make of it. Enjoy!

Not modern or well kept

In my opinion this sauna was not modern or well kept. Dry sauna was not in use (under renovation). It was cold in the general areas. Mostly elderly asian visitors.

BAD STAFF and long complicated signing-in

The staff are rude and uncompromising. The signing-in process is complicated and takes so much time. So if you are just visitting, do not come.

Sign in NOT complicated

I did not find the sign in complicated, or long, at all. They took my ID, and a few minutes later I was in the Club. When I left, I got my ID and a membership card.
