This bar was recently awarded Blue Plaque status due to being the longest-operating gay pub in the UK. Opened as The Hope and Anchor, it changed its name to The New Penny in 1982.

Nowadays, The New Penny retains a friendly clubby vibe and takes part in the annual Pride celebrations. It has late opening hours which often means that it’s the last venue open.
